IIT admission -2017: SC stops imposing all IIT admissions and counseling

Supreme Court Stops IIT Admission

Supreme Court has banned admissions and counseling under the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) in the prestigious engineering institute, IIT. The court has imposed this ban on Grace Marks given to the candidates under JEE.

A bench headed by Justice Deepak Mishra said that no High Court of the country will consider any petition of JEE-IIT (Advance) from now on. Indeed, in one exam, those students were also given Grace Marks, who did not even try to solve the question. According to the rules, Grace Marks are given only to those who try to solve them instead of leaving the question.

In this petition filed in this regard, it was raised that the merit list was affected due to these Grace marks and due to this, the number of students has changed. The Supreme Court has imposed this stay on all the institutions where IITs is admitted under JEE (Advance). The next hearing of this case will be on July 10.

On June 30, the Supreme Court, hearing a petition, issued a notice to the Central Human Resource Development Ministry which appealed for cancellation of the rank list of IIT JEE 2017. This petition was filed by IIT candidate Aishwarya Agarwal, in which he appealed to the court that the students who have given Grace Marks are wrong and it is not only the right of the students but the rights of all the students.
